Beautiful Autumn walks in Mid-Wales

Mid Wales is ‘the’ place to go for uncrowded walks, and from beautiful ancient forests to mountain tops, we’ve got just about every trail you could think of. When staying in at one of our properties, you’ll never be far from an epic stroll. Take a look at our WALKING AT AFAN page for some ideas of where you can walk around our properties.

Get scared silly at Terror Mountain

Wales’ biggest Halloween event returns for 2022, in the creepy setting of a Victorian mine. For those who like things that go ‘bump’ in the night, this is the perfect place to enjoy some Halloween thrills.

Terror Mountain is running on the following dates; October 21st, 22nd, 27th, 28th, 29th and of course, the 31st. Tickets are on sale now, and they do sell out, so make sure you pre-book to guarantee your night of thrilling frights and fun. Prebook your tickets on their website here.

Visit Devils Bridge Waterfalls

Devil’s Bridge Falls is a spectacular waterfall attraction located in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains at Devils Bridge. It is one of Wales’ ‘must see’ natural features. Featuring impressive waterfalls and a beautiful walk, it looks even more spectacular in the red, brown and gold colors of Autumn. Be warned though, it’s easy getting down, but getting back up it’s pretty tough!

TAKE A RIDE ON THE Vale of Rheidol Railway

Step aboard one of our restored steam trains for a stunning journey along the Rheidol Valley. Travel through wide open fields and meadows, woodland, and rugged mountain scenery, all of which look even better during the autumn months.

Listen to the sound of a powerful narrow gauge steam locomotive as it works hard to climb 700ft (200m) over the 12-mile journey from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as the Red Kite and Buzzard can be seen soaring high above the valley, providing breath-taking views for all. Prebook your tickets on their website here.

Relax in one of our Hot tubs and watch the stars!

After all that exploring, maybe you’d like to relax in one of our stunning hot tubs. Both our Derwen Haidd and Dyffryn Haidd properties have their own private hot tubs, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring.
